Artefact 5.

1.     Though your film production knowledge, do you know how a film poster produce is and who will go to find ‘who’ to design?
-Take photos from still photographerà do the basic design
- It must have a film logo designer, it can be one or two designer.
2.     How to prove that poster is good or not?
-to give this poster to someone isn’t know this film before to test the market.
-it need to be prove by film director and produce.  E.g. ‘Green snake’
-the words under the poster are important as well, they are attract those audience.
-the production team on the poster in Hong Kong is so small, you can’t see what the name in there.
- Western people would like to find information on the internet like IMBB. But it won’t use official page. It just knows the film though trailer in cinema or bus stop poster or on the Facebook page.
-The posters in Hong Kong are showing this film have many awards for the other country.  The poster is good or not is affecting audience to watch this film in the cinema in Hong Kong even the design or it have awards. But Western audience will find more information by them self.

3.     Do you think the existing poste need to be improved?
-        The poster in Japan is really good! They will redesign the Hollywood film or Hong Kong Film poster. Kate think Japan poster is better than others counties poster.
-        Japanese is good at to show off the typeface and attract audience attention.
-        E.g. ‘ the science of sleep’
   
-        Japan poster is like cartoon and gorgeous. Hong Kong is not really good. The western is more pragmatic.

4.     What will do the poster? Is a freelancer or a company?
-        The film Publisher does it. Once they buy the copyright of this film they will do the whole thing of the advertisement.  Including the cardboard and back drop and leaflet in the cinema.
5.     What do you think about these similar posters? Did you know this before?

-        Kate knows this before I show her the pictures and she think this is not a disadvantage. It is because the main point is audience like them and they are still accepting them.
-        The important thing is the layout. The design element isn’t not much to used.
-        The selling point is the actor. So designer usually will make the main role or the famous star bigger.
-        The poster design it may not relevant the film story. The main thing is how to make audience to buy a ticket to the cinema.
6.     How about independent  film?  
-        There have no film market value in Hong Kong. They  usually join some competition outside Hong Kong then  come back. So that will have many people to know this film.
-        E.g. A investor pay funding to an independent director, the film is now in the festival of Cannes. 
7.     Do you think all film story a similar?
-        The film in Hollywood is similar story. There is a formula to film; Hero needs to be save beauty. It must have handsome boy and girls.
